Notwithstanding the fact the different types of organ transplantation are aimed at providing the quality of life, such procedures are perceived differently in the Islamic world. The question is not whether it is right or wrong for Muslims to opt for organ transplantation. Muslims follow the Shari'ah and therefore ask whether Shari'ah sanctions it. Since the Shar'iah is silent on this issue, one seeks guidance from the science of Islamic jurisprudence. It is on this bases that its permissibility may be argued on the ground of "necessity" I.e. that is necessary for the betterment and preservation of human and animal life. However, there are certain juridical principles which could in reality be advanced to restrict this permissibility.
The author sheds light on these issues and acquaints the reader with the latest rulings on these biotechnological manipulations. The reader should bear in mind that both the Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAAS) neither sanction nor condemn it.
