Dala’il al-Khayrat exhibition and catalogue feature 27 outstanding illuminated manuscripts from the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Dala’il al-Khayrat was composed by a prominent Sufi master, Imam Al-Jazuli (d.1465 AD/870H), which has become an important prayer book in its native land, Morocco. It has spread across the breadth of the Islamic lands and celebrated as the most acclaimed source on salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Dala’il al-Khayrat has inspired calligraphers, illuminators and painters of court ateliers in producing sumptuous illustrated and illuminated manuscripts. The tradition of reciting the salawat of Dala’il al-Khayrat in public and private gatherings in specific occasions continues until today.
